Engagement-capable environments

Engagement-capable environments recognize and value the wisdom and lived experience of patients and essential care partners. These environments create and sustain a culture of patient-and family-centred care, and patient partnership, that seeks to improve the quality, safety and experience of care and patient outcomes.

Engagement-capable environments are built on three main pillars of an organization:

  1. healthcare leaders
  2. staff/healthcare provider teams
  3. patient partners

These pillars are interdependent and necessary to create the desired engagement culture.
